I was in Florida a few weeks ago and found some great lounge chairs in one of the Florida magazines I was reading. The first is a modern interpretation of a classic wing chair. Offered by Kreiss, the Gatsby Wing Chair (love the name), is carved out of solid mahogany and upholstered in a […]

Stone Forest is a company that creates hand carved (we’re talking hammer and chisel here, people) granite sinks, fountains and bathtubs that recall Japanese simplicity and modern design. This makes each tub unique due not only to the individuality of the rock, but also due to the design sensibilities of the carver. And the […]

Not only are fashion designers invading the home fragrance world, they’re invading the furniture design world…and it’s a good thing! Everyone from Giorgio Armani to Missoni and Valentino and trying their hand at home design. Century Furniture currently has a collection by famed designer Oscar de la Renta, which is sophisticated and quite varied. You […]

The home fragrance industry get bigger every year, with all kinds of designers (not only scent designers, but fashion designers as well) throwing their hats into the ring. The scents have gotten more sophisticated, the variety has grown, and the packaging has become an aesthetic in itself. The candle holder is almost as important […]

I just discovered Brazilian design group Rotsen Designs and not only have fallen in love with their pieces, but also their eco-friendly materials and practices. All of Rotsen’s wood is certified by IBAMA’s strict environmental standards. The pieces are totally unique and fresh. I especially like the Gold Leaf Gotas Armoire, which is made with […]

I just stumbled upon the website for the company Pavilion Furniture, which makes both indoor and outdoor furniture. The outdoor furniture is the most impressive; it’s sophisticated and resilient enough to stand up to the elements, whether those of nature or of your family. You can choose from hundreds of designs for chaises, chairs, sofas, […]

One of my favorite things to decorate with are vintage Audubon prints, and in that same vein are these beautiful ceramic dinnerware pieces by Laura Zindel. Her collection, available at Virtu Chicago, features delicate pen and ink type realistic portrayals of bugs and snakes on cups, dishes, vases and bottles. Get one for use as […]

Nursery furniture generally seems to be either traditional or cheap looking (i.e. disposable), but this bed, offered by nurseryworks, is neither. Coming in a whole array of colors, this bed is a great modern piece to a nursery. You can not only choose the panel colors and the finish of the pine frame, but also […]

Bright and funky, Dutch designer Verner Patton’s rugs are definitively 60’s (think lots of color and geometric design) but have been able to stand the test of time and are still relevant with today’s contemporary style. Vibrant and energetic, his rugs are sure to wake up a room and your imagination. I love lively color […]

Most birdhouses you see are kinda homely but like everything else, they’re getting a modern makeover. These houses, offered by Neoshed, are sophisticated and due to their organic lines, are much more likely to blend with its surroundings than the typical wooden bird home. A tad pricier than a wood shop birdhouse but well worth […]

My preference for kitchen design is to good for a clean, crisp neutral design but to accessorize with lots of color. That’s why I love this fun, retro breadbox. Breadboxes are so boring anyways, why not spice it up with a colorful, uniquely shaped one. Get this cool one through Amazon.
