How cool! I just want to touch this lamp! Made out of hundreds of those bouncy balls you get out of a gumball machine, this lamp is great for a kid’s room, or for the big kid in your family. But the big question is, if you drop it, will it bounce?

ONCE UPON a roommate…well, she moved on and got recognition in JUXTAPOZ and has been offered a show in LA. She’s the art director for the HOOK, and does wildly imaginative gouche paintings in her free time. The piquancy of her personality roams through her paintings, and I think this upcoming show is the first […]

LOUIS J. SOLOMON, INC. is a wholesale furniture company who imports authentic French and English reproductions of the 18th and 19th century. I like this chair particularly for the Tuscany finish, which is reminiscent of a calming serenity. This is a nice addition to traditional interior designs, and ties into one of three important […]

When I think of a love seat, I think of an overstuffed comfy chair…never a slab of wood. Yet, the lines and shape of this solid oak make this chair strangely inviting. Rob Cassy (author of Garden UK) says about this design, “Each piece is massive, enduring and solid as a rock, and there […]

Wallpaper has come into fashion again in the past few years, and not just any wallpaper, but big, bright, bold patterned papers. Home & Book’s wallpaper collection and furniture are imported from the Far East. They are busy enough to fit into today’s wallpaper fashions while at the same time being delicate and elegant enough […]

I’m not a big fan of your typical overhead light fixtures (I make an exception for chandeliers), so I like to use a lot of floor lamps. This lamp is fantastic because not only is it delicate, but it also is thin enough to blend into any room (if of course you want to keep […]

Scientific and creative innovations characterize the millennium, which inevitably impact our living spaces – be it through raw materials, the art that shapes them or the knowledge of the interior designer. The origins of glass are unknown, but it seems to have been used for at least 5,000 years as a functional and decorative object, […]

I am seeing more and more wind powered buildings pop up (outside the us of course). So far most of the endeavors I have run across were industrial or commercial but today I discovered a residential wind powered housing unit in London. 66 private and affordable apartments who’s energy is collected by tower acts […]

In the past few years, people have become much more aware of the problems our environment is facing and suddenly it seems as though being ecologically minded is cool again. Instead of buying all new fixtures and other elements for your home, how about checking out salvage yard, antique shops, and websites for cool “second […]

Interior design is an especial engagement with our senses – it is a deliberate, intelligent and creative manipulation of our environments. One way of accomplishing this, however, that is often overlooked, is the sense of smell—but as every guy can account, after having walked past a BATH & BODY store, women understand scented candles well. […]
